AUCTIONEERS' REPORTS,

Messrs. 11. Mataon and Co. report on the Livestock market, &c, for the week ending riiursdaj', November 17, as follows:— Wednesday last being the first sale held at Addington since the holiday recess, an exceptionally large entry of stock was penned, Smith Canterbury contributed less than its usual quota of sheep, but from other sources the market was simply crammed wit'i stock of all classes. At the opening of the sheep sale there was a large attendance of town and country buyers, and although the heavy supply prevented any rise in values, yet the various lots on offer, both in fat and stores, were, with few exceptions, "placed" 'at about !ato quotations, the sale dragging somewhat throughout. Fat and crossbreda in tho wool (of which there wore but few on offer) brought 16s to 17s for medium weights, shorn crossbreds 9s 6d to 13s; a few picked wethers, penned by I-iendorson and McHeath, realising up to VJh ; store merino ewes in the wool, with hunba at foot, sold at from 10s 3d to 12s 4d ; shorn do, aged and in low condition, at 4s 3d ; we aho placed a line of 500 fullmouthed merino wethers at sa. Considering the very large supply, the sheep sale must be looked upon as a very successful one. The fat cattle market was well supplied with quality above the average, buyers being also "well represented. Competition throughout v as well maintained, and every line of our entry disposed of at from £6 for light wdght heifers up to £12 for the best en Mr Birdling's steers. Of the last iiauu'il owner's cattle it is sufficient to say that they were of the usual prime quality, and brought an average for the twenty of a trifle over £10 per head. The sale of store cattle was the heaviest we have had for some time, and with the attendance of one or two large buyers there was scarcely a lino unsold, prices being firm, and in pome instanced marked by an advance. The totals yarded for the day comprised 8078 shnep, 739 head of cattle, 111 pigs.
