"ATOTICE is hereby given that, in __lN pursuance of the above Acts, the Quarterly Meeting of the Licensing Commissioners for the Districts of Akaroa and Wainui, Pigeon Bay, Okain's Bay, and Little River, will be held on Tuesday, December 6th next, at the hour of 12 o'clock noon, in the Resident Magistrate's Court, Akaroa, for the purpose of considering applications under the said Acts. Land taken for Road through Rural Section 16708, Akaroa Survey District, Canterbury. ARTHUR GORDON. Governor. A PROCLAMATION". WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken under " The Public Works Act, 1876," and " The Public Works Act 1876 Amendment Act, 1878," for a cert an work, to wit, the construction of a road through Rural Section number sixteen thousand seven hundred and eight, Akaroa Survey District, Provincial District of Canterbury: And whereas the Akaroa County Council has laid before the Governor the memorial and m;ip mentioned in and signed and certified as required by the said Acts: Now, therefore, I, Arthur Hamilton Gordon, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities in me vested by sections twenty-one, twenty ' two, twenty-three, twenty-four, and twenty-five of " The Publ c Works Act, 1876," and by section twentj-eight of " The Public Works Act 1576 Amendment Act, J 878," and of any other power and authority enabling me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the laud drescribed in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for the purposes of a road ; and that, from and after the third day of November, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-one, the land so described shall become absolutely vested in foe-simple in Her Majesty, discharged from all mortgages, charges, claims, estates, and interests of what kind soever, for use as a road. SCHEDULE. All that piece or parcel of land containing by admeasurement 3 acres 3 roods 34 perches, more or less, situate in the Survey District of Akaroa, Provincial District of Canterbury, being portion of Section No. 16708, Banks Peninsula, commencing 117 links from the westernmost corner peg of Section No. 12580. Bounded by lines generally Easterly and North-easterly, 24, 138, 76, 128, 64, 49, 291, 206, 89, 111, 88, 226, 181, 103, 100, 77, 55, 135, 48, and 101 links respectively ; generally Northerly and North-westerly by lines, 5. 46, 92, 177, 91, 90, 159, 114, 143, 214, 281, and 140 links respectively ; North-easterly by a line, 100 links ; generally South-easterly and Southerly bylines, 103, 292, 244,122, 111, 186, 95, 85. 191, 81, 98, and 149 links respectively; generally Westerly and South-westerly by lines, 196, 51, 156, 78, 70, 104, 70, 136, 187, 81, 105, 74, 203, 245, 74, 169, 153, 37, 120, and 109 links respectively, to the starting point: be all the aforesaid linkages either more or less, and are more particularly delineated upon the plan attached to memorial abovo referred to. Given under the hand of His Excellency the Honorable Arthur Hamilton Gordon, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Her Majesty's High Commissioner for the Western Pacific, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony of New Zealand, and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same ; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this first day of November, in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-one. .T.
