When he got to the last paragraph which cautioned all Maoris to leave Te Whiti if he did not submit, Tβ Whiti said "That is enough, read no more." In answer to questions Te Whiti said lie had no word to send and nothing to say beyond what had been already said. It is stated that he looked avixiouH and careworn.
