1 Election 3Toti<;«tt TO THE ELECTORS OF THE AKAROA DISTRICT. n\ ENTL-MEN,—I have the honor vJT to state t!uit I shall be a CANDIDATE for your suffrages at*, the ELECTION shortly to be hell for the return of a Member to the House of Representatives. Having been honored with your confidence for upwards of seven years, during the whole of which time 1 can truly say that I endeavored to do my duty as your Representative, and having , publicly received repeated expressions i of your approval of my conduct, I shall again hopefully appeal for the continuance of your confidence. I intend to ask you, gentlemen, to meet me in various parts of the district ' b.fore the day of election, at which i places I shall have the honor to address you on questions of public interest. | I have the honor to remain, Gentlemen, Yours faithfully, W. MONTGOMERY. TO THE ELECTORS OF THE BOROUGH OF AKAROA. ENTLEMEN,—At the request of \Jf a number of Burgesses 1 have consented to stand for the office of Mayor at the ensuing election. Yours faithfully, WM. MEECH. TG THE RATEPAYERS AND ELECTORS OF THE BERARD RIDING. & ENTLEMEN,—At the request of several electors of this I\i <ing I have agreed to become a candidate to represent it in the County Council. Should you do me the honor to elect me, I shall do my best to get the Council to work as an administrative body only, without making use of its rating powers. By forwarding the interests of Berard, and constant attention to all local matters, and by giving a careful and independent consideration to all county questions to the best of my ability, I hope to gain your confidence. Youre obediently, E. S. OHAPPELL. TO THE RATEPAYERS OF THE BERARD RIDING, IN THE COUNTY OF AKAROA. I BEG most respectfully to say that I shall offer my services as a Candidate for the Berard Riding, in the County of Akaroa, at the forthcoming Election. In doing so I cannot say that I am in favor of the Cqpnty Council in preference to the Road' Board. I am at present a member of the Road Board, and have been one of that body since its infancy. Under the circumstances' I beg to say that Icannot conceive how any other body can fill the place of, the Road Board, as the gentlemen I have been connected with on that body for a number of years have always been found to be most straightforward and honest in all their transactions, and in disposing of the public moneys placed under their trust. I beg most respectfully to say that if returned I shall always endeavor to do my duty in a trustworthy manner, as I have hitherto done, and I consider it is quite tii.e the Ratepayers had a meeting, at which all Ratepayers should att nd, to decide whether they will give up the County Council or the Road Board, for it is impos>ible to keep up two rating bodies. Yours respectfully, BENJAMIN SHADBOLT, Head of the Bay. AKAROA COUNTY COUNCIL. TO THE ELECTORS OP THE WAINUI RIDING. ENTLEMEN,—I beg to announce XJT that Ido not intend to seek your suffrages as a member for the Wainui Riding at the coming County Council elections* c. McDonald. Wainui, October 15th, 1881.
