CHnisxcHURCH, October 6. A lunatic escaped from the Asylum this morning at 11 a.m.. and is believed to have gone in the direction of Akaroa. THIS CHRISTCHURCH ELECTION. Saunder's " Why Not;" Dr Ross's «• Lone Hand " was 2nd, and Mr Cotton's " Mungo Park " 3rd The Maiden Steeplechase of 10 soys. was won by Mr S. Sampler's '* Cloud," Mr Carter's "Glengarry* was 2nd, and Mr Cotton's " Butterfly " third. The Farmers' Steeplechase was won by "Maid "of the mill.
