LITTLE RIVER ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary monthly meeting of this Board was held on the 30th inst. Present —Messrs It. A. Forbes (Chairman), — Parkinson and J. Wilson.
The Clerk's report hiving bopn road and considered it was resolved th>t hi*-* action in the m-itterof t»r«c-tinir bridges near the Post Office fit Little River, and making approach to the new bridges over the Halswell at Greenpark, be approved of. It was fnrther resolved that Mr Morton be written to with regard to his claim against this Board for road and fence through sections described on plans now lying at Messrs Harper and Co.'s office, Christchurch, also that Mr White be informed that the Board desire a settlement re road through section 4294, In the matter of surveys it was resolved that the plans of reserves 1258 and 2426 be forwarded to the Commissioner of Crown lands for trans'er to the Board Resolved that the Clerk appoint to meet the Clerk of Halswell Road Board with a view to make arrangements re removing pipes, etc., in Dunford's Valley, as per their letter, also that the Springs Road Board be informed that this Board are willing to waive their claim of £5 for preparing plans, etc., for Kimber's bridge, and that with, regard to looking to the cleaning of the River Halswell, that this Board have done so for many years, and for a long period paid the entire cost of cleaning it.
It having been reported to the Board that Mr Joblin has been cutting timber on the road leading through section 1850 in Harmon's Bay, it was resolved that the Clerk ascertain if Mr Joblin is aware that he is thus trespassing, and inform him that the Board will take action to prevent a recurrance of such trespass on their property. It was also resolved that tenders be invited to clear land slips off Little River Hill road.
Correspendence was read from Crown Solicitor re exchange of road through Mr Gebbie's land. It was resolved that tbe Chairman supply the information required. From the proprietor of the Akaroa soliciting a share of the advertisements, etc., of the Board, and a report by the Clerk of each meeting. Resolved that, with regard to advertisements the Board will be happy to grant the request at tho same charge as that of other journals, but that it is optional with the Clerk to send report or not. From the Akaroa County Council, informing the Board that a sum of £25 lias been voted by that body for the purpose of removing a bar said to exist in, and impede, the course of the Halswell river, and asking if the Board are willing to attend to the matter. Resolved that the Board are willing to undertake the above in conjunction with tr.e Lincoln Road Board, and that a deputation from this Board will meet deputations from the Springs and Lincoln Boards to thoroughly investigate the above matter, and that any ratepayer professing to be aware of the existence of the said bar be respectfully invited to attend on Friday, 14th inst., the day appointed for the above meeting. From the Hon Minister for Public Works, acknowledging receipt of resolutions of this Poard re damage to main road and promising tho matter will have his attention. It was resolved that the drain along lower Tai Tapu road be attended to.
After passing some accounts for payment the Board rose.
