Original Correspondence

We are at all times ready to give expresto sion to every shade of opinion, but in no case do we hold ourselves responsible for the views advocated by our correspondents. To the Editor. Sir, —It is generally supposed in this district that I am local correspondent to a paper published in Christchurch, called tne Liberty. How the rumor got abroad I mil not able to say, nor does it concern me further than this, that 1 cannot as a business man let so erroneous an idea go unchallenged. I therefore desire to make it publicly known through the medium of your columns, that I am not in any way connected with the publication in question, neither as correspondent nor otherwise. I have got my bunds full in attending to my own affairs. If, however, unfortunately there are some in this vicinity who are not so circumstanced, and are in want of something to do, here is an offer—£loo reward to any one, proprietor of the Liberty included, who will prove before a Court of Justice that I have at any time hitherto soiled my pen in sending contributions of any kind to the .Liberty.— l am. etc., DONALD GRANT, Storekeeper. Little River, Sept. 20, 1881.
