Accounts to hand this morning from Long Branch state tli.it the President died calmly at 10.50 last night. At 10.25 he was sleeping quietly, when be awoke with pain in his heart, and in fifteen minutes be breathed his last. Mrs Garfield was present at the death-bed.
In consequence of President Garfield's decease, Cabinet has summoned General Chester Arthur, Vice-President, to fill the presidency for the unexpired term of nearly three years and six months. The oath of office was to-day adminis. t.red to General Arthur, the new President, at the Capitol. September 21. Tbe funeral of the late President Garfield will take place at Cleveland, Ohio, his former house, on Saturday next. Owing to apprehensions that attempts may be in side to lynch Guiteati, his guard at the gaol has been doubled. Aden, Septemt er 20. The outbreak of cholera at this place is raging with increased severity, and numerous deaths have occurred. Every precaution is being taken to lessen the spread of the epidemic. Constantinople, Sept. 20. A difficulty has arisen in the negotations which are proceeding there between the representatives of the foreign creditors of the Porte. The Russian delegates claim that the amount of the Turkish war indemnity still owing, should be included in the debts to which the scheme for payment of interest is to lie applied. This claim is generally opposed by the other foreign delegates, and the settlement of negotations is consequently dehyed,
