PIGEON BAY ROAD BOARD.

The monthly meeting of this Board was held in the Board's office on Saturday, September 3rd. Present —Messrs Pettigrew, Budua, Paton, and Pitcaithly. The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed, On the motion of Mr Pitcaithly, seconded by Mr Budua, Mr Pettigrew was called upon to preside, in the absence of the Chairman. CORRESPONDENCE. Letters were read— From the Colonial Secretary, asking for a return o: the Board's endowments and indebtedness on the 31st March last. From Mr Hunt, objecting to the gate which Mr Paton last month had asked the Board's permission to hang across the road. The Clerk was directed to reply that as the Board had no jurisdiction in the matter they could not interfere. From the Bank of New Zealand, Lyttelton, acknowledging receipt of money to. the Boa d's credit. From the Surfaceman with monthly report.

Mr J. Lyall waited upon the Board for liberty to clear away soinn obstructions to bullock drays above Mr Barclay's house.

The request was granted on the understanding that nothing should bo. done which might injure the adjoining fence. Mr Lyall then thanked the Board and retired.

On the motion of Mr Budua, seconded by Mr Paton, it was resolved that a rate of 9d in the pound be levied for the current year, to be paid in one instalment on or before the first day of November next.

Mr Holiiver's case was brought up by Mr Paton, who reported that nothing had been done in it since last meeting, as it would be very expensive to make the present surveyed road track passable. After consideration it was agaeed that Messrs Pettigrew, Pitcaithly and Paton should visit the place on Tuesday first, to examine the road, and report to the Board at its nest meeting. The Clerk was directed to write Mr Holmes, informing him of the resolution of the Board at its last meeting to accept his offer of a road through Holmes'a B iy, subject to necessary deviations for grading. , The Clerk was, further instructed to advertise the filial closing of the old Kay's Guily road. Mr Pitcaithly requested liberty to continue across the above road a lence which he was at present erecting. On the motion of Mr Paton, seconded by Mr Biuliia, tliis was agreed 10. It was agreed on the motion of Mr Pitcaithly, seconded by Mr Budna, that the Clerk sign cheques in the present absence of the Chairman. The Poundkeopor 'handed in £4 Is for pound dues. After passing accounts to thu value of £21 4s the By.tnl adjourned..
