Mr A. I. McGregor reports that during last week lie held a two days' sale of: furniture, saddlery, oats, hay, etc., at Dr ■Guthrie'a residence, Balgu«rie street, and disposed of 500 lots at satisfactory price?. On Saturday lie submitted a cargo of white pine boards and scantlings, ex Alice Jane, at Mr Daly's store, Balguerie street. The attendance was poor and the biddings very languid, the price realised being on an •average about 7s per hundred. The venture has not been n" tsucceesful one, and has turned out of suci-i a nature that the shipper is not 'ikely to try aguin. This is to be regretted, as the saw-mills within easy reach of Akaroa having now all ceased cutting, the difficulty of getting small lots •of useful timber daily increases.
