AKAROA RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

Before Justin Aylmer, Esq., R.M. BREACH OF BOROUGH BY-LAWS. Henry Magee was charged with driving sheep through the town during prohibited hours. Defendant admitted the fact, but pleaded in mitigation that the sheep were in the pound, that if he had left them in all day some of them would have died, as they were up to their knees in mud. His Worship said if the pound were in so bad a state, defendant should represent the matter to the Borough Council. Fined 5s and costs. CIVIL CASES. Wallace v. Nash. Judgment summons. Amount claimed—£2 14s 6d. Defendant offered to pay the same in two months, tmd an order was mado accordingly. The Court then adjourned.
