A SUGGESTION.

To ihe Editor. Sik, —The following- story has been told me, which I believe is true. A certain schoolmaster not ten miles from Akaroa, having come to tho conclusion that the Akaroa tradespeople aro all robbers, and can live on air, not content with sending all his money away for his own stores, has been in the habit of spreading hia narrowminded notions among his neighbors, and inducing them to procure through him their stores from Dunedin—of course out of pure philanthropy, not with, the view of any small commissions, his liberality and loudness for "gratuitous " work being so well known as to have become a byeword. I thought I would let you know, as you are always willing to publish anything likely to do good to the public,'.and there might be people about here who would like to send a few pounds away occasionally through some trustworthy and liberal-minded person. Whatever yon do don't let this come to the ear* of the School ~ Committee, or they might put a slop to . such a noble work.
