POLICE V. DAIRY FARMING.

To the Editor.

Sin, —Can you or any of your roders advise what to do with a spalpeen of n strapping young boy just out from the Ould Country. He is tail and clever, and more bo token got a middling share of odication to be sartain. 110 was edicated

for the clargy, but somehow the boy couldn't take to the blessed calling at all at all, so that here he is a blessed burthen on my back. Well, I was thinking mesilf that if the boy got in the police it wouldn't be so bad a beginning to his advancement, more particular if he was sint to a country place, where the boy could combine dairy farming and bacon curing wiih the police duty. I don't know that sucli a combination of profissions is allowed, l>ut am sartdn shure that it is so done by some police in country places, and more betoken in the place where I am living at the prisint toime. Well, as I said before, my frind, being a strapping young boy. the police would shuit him all to pieces, and bedad, shure I would rejoice to have to say that my boy was policeman, dairy fanner, and bacon curei all combined, and shure it's mesilf that would be writing home to the ould people the great succiss of their spoilt praist, and thure, begorra, it's thimnilves that would be glad intirely about all liis professions in the Government, with all his extinguishing marks afther his name, John Boyd Magillicuddy, P. 0., D.F., 8.C., etc., etc.—l am, etc., JNO. LAWRENCE OTOOLE.
