LONDON SEED MARKET.
Messrs .lohn Shaw & Sons, of 37, Mark Lmjip. London report, through their agent Mr Leonard W. Blake, of Christchurch, that the market for the fortnight ending May 19th was quiet, the consumptive demand lor farm seels naturally drawing to a close, and there was also an absence of any speculative enquiry. As regards American red, lo,ver quotations were reported from Liverpool. Fine white and Alsyke, l>eing exceedingly scarce, were firmly held. Timothy was dearer. Trefoil neglected, live grasses unchanged. More enquiry for inu tard and rape seed. Cann-y seed was meeting with increased attention, the very low figure having at length caused a speculative demand. Hemp seed still unusually cheap. Scotch turnip seed had advanced 5s per bushel. The Bo id of Trade returns, just published, state that the imports into the United Kingdom of clover and grass seeds during April were 38,147ewt, value £87,284.
