Instructions have been given by the Minister for Public Works to Mr Blair, Chief Engineer to, proceed with the ballasting of the Akaroa Railway forthwith. It has been arranged that on the arrival of Mr Blair in Wellington Mr Montgomery will have an interview with the Minister and Engineer, when the question of extending the line to Lake Forsyth will be considered. This extension would not effect the question of the extension of the line to Little River for which provisions will have to be made in the estimates this year.
