BALGUERIE STREET.

To the Editor.

Sir, —I think we have been very patient indeed in waiting to have our Balguerie street put in decent order. I bave grave doubts, though, if wo can keep bottled up much longer, especially when wo find nothing done up to the present in arranging to start by tho time we have money. We shall have over J, 150 in licenses paid in presently, and our rates about due, and yet no tenders are out. Valuable time is being lost, and tbe expenditure of a little cash now will help to tide us over tbe winter, as well as taking advantage of cheap labor at this season of the year.

Another reason why we cannot remain longer quiet is that we bave seen an insignificant bye road at tbe extreme limit of our borough having expended on it the sum of £'di in round numbers. This, sir, is not only not fair, but to most of tbe councillors not known ; and I will engage to say you shall ask all but one of the councillors and they will tell you they know nothing of such expenditure, but that tenders were called for, and ono accepted for £7 odd. and further than this they cannot say. I trust, when the extra labor bill comes in, to hear the councillors express their determination not to pass any account the expenditure for which tbey have not previously agreed upon.—l am, etc., WATCHMAN.
