AKAROA RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

- Friday, May 27.

Before Justin Aylmer, Esq., R.M. ATTEMPTED SUICIDE. David Le Comte was charged with attempting to commit suicide. Mr Henning appeared for the accused. James Hartley and Sergeant Willis detailed the circumstances of the case. The act appeared to have been provoked by pecuniary troubles. The Bench dismissed the case. CIVIL CASES. T. Houghton v. D. Paterson. —Claim £9 4s. Judgment for plaintiff by default for amount claimed and costs. Porter v. Anning.— Claim £20 for rent of land. Mr Henning appeared for defendant. The question in dispute hinged on the interpretation of a lease or agreement to lease between the parties. Judgment reserved, till Tuesday, May 31st. Vangioni v. Fluerty.— Claim £4 11s 8d. Judgment by default for amount claimed and costs. Coop v. Walter-.- Claim £100. Mr Henning appeared for plaintiff. Judgment by default for amount claimed and costs, with solicitor's fee. Tlie Court then adjourned. Monday, May 30. BEFouiii Justin Aylmku Esq., R.M. DKUNKKN'NKKS". N. Beaton and I). McCullnm wore each lined 10s and costs for this offence. Tuesday May 31. Before Justin' Aylmek. Esq., R.M. CIVIL CASKS. Porter v. Aiming. This ease had been adjourned for decision. llin Worship now gave judgment for defendant with costs, expressing the opinion that no lease was in existence. The Court then adjourned.
