; London, May 24. At the wool sales to-day 9100 bales were offered. The tone of the bidding waa strong. News has been received from Canada that a terrible accident has occurred near j London, on the Thames, in the Province * of Ontario. An excursion steamer with several hundred persons on board capsized, and 175 perished.

London, May 20. In the House of Commons yesterday*, the Irish Land Bill was read a second time and passed by a majority of 176. Mr Parnell and the members of the extreme Irish party abstained from voting.
