London, May 20. In the House of Commons yesterday the Irish Land Bill was read a second

time and passed by a majority of 176. Mr Parnell and the members of the extreme Irish party abstained from voting.

At a banquet in the City yesterday evening the Marquis of Salisbury made a speech, in the course of which he referred to the Irish Land Bill in disparaging terms severely, denouncing the Irish policy of the Geverment.
