The tone of the bidding was animated. Several further arrests have been made in Ireland under the Coercion Act. The ne,v treaty signed between Franco and the Bey of Tunis has caused considerable astonishment throughout Europe. Athens, May 13, Negotiations continue between the Greek and Turkish Governments regarding the proposed transfer of territory in Thessaly and Epirus to Greece. The Porte now attaches certain conditions to the surrender, and their discussion delays the conclusion of the formal convention between the two Governments. Rome, May 13. There is a division of opinion in the Ministry as to the action which should be taken by Italy in view of the French position in Tunis. Several meetings of the Cabinet have been held, out no understanding could be arrived at, and the Liberal members of ths Ministry have in consequence tendered their resignations ; fcj (-ho King. London, May 13. : §i In the House of Commons to-day, the Premier was questioned as to his intentions regarding the Bill he had introduced providing that persons who are permit ted to affirm in Courts of Law should be authorised to make an affirmation in Parliament. In reply, Mr Gladstone said he had decided that consideration of the measure should bo deferred untill the Irish Land Bill had been passed by tha House. St. Petersburg, May 12. Serious riots, arising out of the strong anti-Jewish feeliug, have occurred at several towns in Soulbe.-n Kussia. The conflicts have in some instances been most severe, and have been attended with much bloodshed. May 13. The members of the Ministry have tendered their resignations of the Czar* This action is believed to be in consequence of His Majesty's recent proclamation as to the future Imperial policy.
