EXPECT NOT REST.
Expect not rest, tis weary work To fight till life is done ; But Christ himself has led the way And wo must follow on.: ■"•' V ' The path before ns onwa_4f HeSj : . An arduous, narrow way,..... With bye-paths leading every where To lead tbe soul astray. A burden too we have to bearAlong this rugged track; A foe to fight with sword in hand And burden on the back. At times the path may wider grow Tho burden seem more light-; But Satan rests, only to gain More vigor for the fight. Still when wo think for what we toil, The Crown of lite to win ; Shall we not strive with all our might And ne'er think to give in. And should we reach that happy home The mansion of the blest, Then shall we find, and not till then A joyful, happy rest. C. M. Okain's Bay. March 28,1881.
