THE LATE MR D.M. CURRIE.

To the Editor

Sin, —I notice in your pnper of Feb. 8 a letter from Mr A. Carrie. I have no desire to rake up unpleasant things, but in common justice to myself I must correct come wrong statements. Mr Gnrrie nays that a stigma rests upon his brother's memory. It will not lift ft stigma from his brother's memory to plant an unjust stigma on mine. Sir Currie denies tliat his brother was suffering. from delirium tremens or required restraint. I sny he was suffering from delirium tremens and did require restraint; and Dr Guihri<yin ; his evidence at the inquest, said that this-, was undoubtedly tlie case. I woiild willingly liave Miirsed tiie deceased in any onliiiary sickness, but, with my wife in ill health what else oouid be done than place a dangerous lunatic under restraint? The fact tliat Mr Wiggins s:iid he would he responsible for the necessary cost for one night's watching does not alter the fni t I hat the deceased was in a state of lunacy fiom delirium tremens in my "muse. Mr Wiggins dM not offer to take bim to his own house, and [ do not blame him ; but Ido bhuiu , Mr A. Ourrie for writing so eonfi■•lcn'lly about that which lie never saw. ami for deliberately saying (lie opposite of what lie heard with bis own ears at the inquest.—l am. etc.. G. 11. WRIGHT.
