In view of po>sible hostilities with the Ashantees, Her Majesty's corvette, Champion, fourteen guns, has been ordered to the Gohl Coast, where she will organise a nnval brigaoe for service in Ashantee.
According to official documents which have been published, General Sir Frederick Roberts discovered, while in occupation at Cabul, a secret treaty for an offensive and defensive alliance, signed between Russia and the Ameer, dated ! August, 1878, also a letter from Russian ' General Stolieoff (sic), dated October of sawae year, advising Shere Ali to sue for peace wilh England, but at same time to .secretly prepare for war. Other papers which were found moreover show that the Russian policy included measures to incite an armed rebellion of tho Mahomedaus iv Jndia.

News kits been received from Natal that the Boers have stopped the mail between Sir George Colley's camp Lnngsak and head quarters at Newcastle. AU reinforcements from England .and India have arrived sit Durban, Natal, and the fro ips will proceed without delay to the front.
Further news to hand from Natal states that since the stoppage of the mail betwetm Langsack and Newcastle; Goncval Sir George Colley has despatched a force to clear the road oi Moors.
