LITTLE AKALOA SCHOOL.

To the Editor

$ ul> —In the report of the proceedings at the late election of th« School Committee in this place 1 notice and I am sure from general love of justice you will allow me to supply the omitted matter to your readers. The report (as you publish it) is substantially correct, but no mention is made of the fact that the report of L. Edge, Esq., Inspector ot Schools, was read. This report stated that the school was examined on the 14th September. It spoke in high terms of our schoolmaster, and indeed justly so, inasmuch as, though he had only been appointed to this school for a little more than four months, yet his -work had been so good that 65 per cent of the scholars presented for examination passed in their respective standards. This success is the more remarkable as only 33 per cent passed as tho result ol the previous year's' training. Considering that there is some difference between four months and one year, your readers will duly understand the justice of the Chairman's (Mr Barker) remark, " That this report was better than the last one." I ask you, in justice to our schoolmaster, to insert this.—l am, etc., J. W. BENNETT, Ex-Chairman Little Akaloa School Committee.
