Melbourne, Jan. 10. Sailed—U.S.S. Co.'s Tararua for Bluff on Saturday.
Letters appear in "The Argus" drawing attention to a disagreement which exists between the New Zealand and New South Wales Governments regarding the tariil; for telegraphic messages between Australia and New Zealand.
The New Zealand Government has reduced rates on messages from New Zealand, but charges from Australia remain at the original rates " The Argus " supports the proposal its correspondents make, that the nuittcv in dispute should be referred to the Intercolonial Oont'eruncn which meets at Sydney on the 13th inst.
Brisbane, Jan. 10. Skuthorpe telegraphs from Blackall that he has discovered the grave of Classan and has also obtained evidence as to the fate of Leichardt. The Explorer, junk, has arrived at Cooktown, and reports that the crew of the schooner Prosperity, consisting of nine Chinese have been slaughtered by natives of the Leucade Islands, near New Guinea, the Captain of the schooner succeeding in escaping. The Queensland Government have issued a map shewing the routes of the proposed transcontinental railway to the Gulf of Carpentaria and the grand trunk line of South Australia from Roma in this colony. Adelaide, Jan 10. The Chimborazo has gone ashore at the south-cast point on Troutbridgc Shoal. Her grounding is attributed tn a thick haze off the coast. It is expected that she will be able to float to-day. Later. The Chimborazo was successfully floated this morning without injury, and has proceeded to Melbourne.
