PIGEON BAY ROAD BOARD.
The monthly meeting of this Board was held in their office on Tuesday, Jan 4. Present —Messrs Hay (Chairman), Pettigrew, Budua, and Piiciillily. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. MISCKLLANKOUy. The Chairman reported what steps hod been ta relative to the refusal of (he Government to proclaim the road through Holmes' Bay, and answered different questions put !>y other members of the Board. They were satisfied with the course he had followed and what he indicated as advisable to continue sli'l.
The Clerk rend the statement of accountb for 1880. for the consideration of the Board before submitting it to the ratepayers. Annual Meeting. The public meeting for the election of new members in room of those who retire by rotation was then held. After a few opening remarks, the Chairman called on the Clerk to read the statement of accounts. The Clerk did so, and as no one made any comments on it, Mr R. Hay moved, and Mr G. White seconded—That (he statement be received. —Carried. The Chairman then loft the chair, and the election was proceeded with. Mr Pitcaithly proposed, and Mr Budua seconded —That MrT. O. Hay be re-elected a member of the Board. Mr J. Pitcaithly was next proposed by Mr Budua. seconded by Mr T. 0. Hay. Mr Innes was proposed and seconded, but he declined to stand. Mr T. Mclntosb was proposed by Mr Knudsen, and seconded by Mr Smith. As no others were proposed, the Returning Officer put the names to the meeting, and they were unanimously accepted. Accordingly, Messrs Hay, Piteailhly, and Mclntosh were declared duly elected members of the Board for the ensuing two years. A vote of thanks, proposed by Mr Pettigrew, and seconded by Mr Hay, was ac. corded to the Returning Officer, and the business of the meeting was declared to be over. Okdinaky Meeting. At the meeting of the Boa7d held immediately after tho public meeting, Mr Pitcaithly moved, and Mr Pelligrew seconded—That Mr Hay be rc-eleeted Chairman of the Road Board.vCarried. UOBHRSfONDIiNCK. Letters were read :— From the Treasury, Wellington, advising remittance of subsidy (to (he Board's account) to the Bank of New Zealand, Lyttelton. From Mr McGregor, Akaroa, accepting the office of assessor on the terms indicated by Ihe Board. From the Ashburton County Council, asking the Board to join them in protesting against the new railway tariff. The Clerk was instructed to reply to the letter. TEN DISKS. The Chairman informed the Board that he hai accepted Mr Smith's tender for the gr.;ss-seed on Ihe Akaroa road. Tlie Board then adjourned.
