London, Jan 5,

An official denial has been given to the report circulated yesterday that a torpedo had been found under the bow of H.M.S. Warden in the Frith of Forth.

A fire broke out at the Liverpool Docks, but it was extinguished before any damage was done. It lias since been discovered that the fire was caused by an incendiary, who had used petrolonm with the evident intention of completely destroying the docks. . News comes to hand to-day of further serious disturbances in Ireland. A large crowd of people had assembled at a farm at Newbrook, near Claremorris, in order to prevent the service of a notice for the ejectment of the tenant. A body of police was despatched to the scene of the disturbance, and tho people were ordered to disperse. Upon their refusing to do so, .fne police charged with fixed bayonets upon the rioters, several of whom were severe'y wounded in the struggle which ensued. Cape Town, Jan 4. News has been received from Durban that a considerable body of Boers yesterday entered Natal from the Transvaal, and marched some distance across the border. They came up with a detachment of British troops and opposed its advance towards the Transvaal. It is not known whether any fightingoccurred. Bombay, Jan 4. Tho military authorities have received orders to despatch further reinforcements of Indian troops to Natal.
