Good Conduct.—(These prizes were given in accordance with the master's report.)— Christina. Pettigrew 1, Robt. Pettigrew 2, Annie Pawson 3. After the business of the school had been disposed of, the annual treat was proceeded with. The following are the results of the races :— Boys under 14 (200 yards)—R. Pettigrew 1, H. Hewer 2. I Boys under 12 (200yds)—F. Piper 1, T. Libeau 2. Boys under 10 (200 yds) J. Chapman 1, H. BarwicK 2. Boys under 8 (150 yds) P. Hunter 1, W. 'Chapman 2. ' Boys under 6 (100 yds), H. Shadbolt 1, I C. Hewer 2. I Girls' Race.—There was some difficulty • in starting this race, a handicap of 200 yds, —E. Pawson 1, C. Libeau 2. Girls under 10—V. Sheard 1, Jane PawI son 2. Girls under B—V. Libeau 1, A. Pawson 2. Handicap for the whole school (400 yds) H. Barwick 1. High jump, boys above 12— R. Pettigrew 1. Some of the boys would make good athletes, notably R. Pettigrew, who cleared 27ft in a hop, step, and jump, and F. Piper (9 years old) 22ft 6in. The sports were so numerous that I should tire you with a recital ; but there was one event in prospective which seemed to please the juveniles, and that was to see whose mother could run fastest, but the matrons were not on, and even the persuasive powers of their lords was of no avail. The management, did credit to Messrs Libeau, Pettigrew, and Vogan, who, with Mr Slipard's help, made the day enjoyable. I must not forget the ladies, who were so eloquent when dispensing the creature comforts. A pleasant day wound up with cheers for the master and the ladies and gentlemen who had catered for their amusement. I cannot conclude without pxpressing regret at the absence, through ill-health, of Mr Shadbolt, who was always to the fore at these treats.
