London, Dec 17.
The arrival of the Orient, s.s., from Aiistralia, with a shipmentof Australian fresh meat, was made by the owners of the Orient Company the occasion of a grand luncheon on board the vessel today, when the various dishes served consisted of imported meats, A number of guests were invited, including many leading colonists.
Sir Julius Vogel, Sir Arthur Blyth, Mr Stanton, and Sir Daniel Cooper were present, and made speeches on the occasion. Sir Daniel Cooper advised steps being taken to steadily develope a trade in fresh meat from the Colonies, without attempting to force its sale on the London ma kct.
