INTRODUCTORY.
Yesterday was a gala day in Akaroa The anniversary of the founding of the Province of Canterbury was celebrated by a regatta and the fourth annual exhibition of the Horticultural and Industrial Society. The weather was all that could be desired. There was sufficient breeze to give the boats engaged in the various events a chance of exhibiting their powers, and those sailing them their skill. At the same time the breeze was sufficient to make the temperature plea-
