PIGEON BAY MAIL SERVICE.
To the Editor,
Sir, —Surely our very "paternal" Government have set down the Peninsula as the " fag-end of creation," or that all the residents are direct lineal descendants of patient Job. To-day another hitch occurred in our mail efts-service. A number of persons who expected lettors and newspapers assembled at the Postoffice, but no mail arrived. From five o'clock (post time) they hung on until seven o'clock ; then they thought they well deserved their tea, and retraced the miles they had come without their news. One is inclined to ask whether a broom could be got from Wellington (or any other place over-stocked with them, to sweep away a set of directors who misdirect so much in every direction. If those in positions of influence tamely put up with this sort of thing they well deserve to be snubbed.—l am, etc., CIVIS. Pigeon Bay, Dec. 4, 1880.
