A meeting of this Council was held on the abovedate at the .Council Chambers, Duraiich6lleVßay/ Prosent—Messrs,Dalglieh (in the chair), Bradley, .Gebbie, Fleming, Coop, "Williams,' Barker, ilay,and McDonald. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. CIIAIRMA N T 'S STATMENT. The Chairman made the following statement :— Since our last meeting tb.3 half-yearly
baiaiice-iiheet has been prepared by the Treasurer, and is ready for audit.
A letter having been received froth the Ok/iin's Bay Road Board on October 12, asking the Council to forward the neressary poundkeeper's book' and. a copy of the Trespass of Cattle Ordinance for the Le Ron's Bay pound, .bo . that it could opened at once, the Clerk went to'Le BonY Bay with the neeesaary UooJch, and finding, the board with the fees upon it was not correct, lie ordered the pouridkeeper to take down the board, and has ordered a correct copy of the by-law to be painted at the Council's expense, the Road Board to /pay carriage of the board from Akaroa. A letter lias been received from the Aknroa nnd Wainui Road the Council to take into its consideration tho building of a pound at Duvauchelle's Bay, as at present -the district is at Akaroa, and consequently the fees go to the Borough. Letters haVe been received—' r . From the Little River Road Board, applying for all fees paid to the Council by Mr G. F. Stanbury for unclaimed cattle sold. Only one amount —viz., £5 16s—and. the Treasurerfreplied to the effect that as the money was held in trust by the Council, they could not part with it, except direct to the owner of tho cattle sold. ..■.'-; ; if From Mr F. Lelievre, stating that the Council must have misunderstood him in reference to his giving tho piece of land encroached upon by .Balguerie. road, as he has no power to do so, it being part of the estate of the late ;Mr Lucas. .* -;; ! From the Colonial Secretar}', stating that the appointment of Messrs Joblin and Forbes as Registrars of Dogs has beer confirmed. : ..-.., . . . .„ From Mr G. Armstrong, in reference tc tho conveyance of tho land for the diversion of the Balguerie road. From the Minister of Public f Works acknowledging of 'letter 1 applying for 100 of the unemployed to be put ot the Summit road, and stating that, it wil be duly considered, but lie does not a present see his way to being able to com ply with the request, ' ? :»' With reference to the appbiritment o: dog ranger, the Clerk lias seen Sergean Willis on the subject, and he intends t( summons all peraons having unregisterec dogs in their possession. As the Clerk is going to ChristchUrcl with the Council's account in about a week I think it would be best to authorise liiu to arrange about the Bupply*of ddg' collar for nest year. ..■;-< rOUND AT HEAD OV THE CAY. A letter was read from tho Akaroa an< Wainui Road Bbartdy .'asking the" Oo'unt'i to erect a pound at the Head of the BayY Mr Bradley ?.sked if any land 'was avail able for the site. . Mr Williams thought there rras hi public land available. Tho .question wbfuh have to be settled sooner or later. As fa as situation wtia concerned, he preferrei Barry's Bay. Mr Gebbie agreed that tho ■poundwa necessary, but as several pounds had lalei; been constructed by the Road Boards, h thought it would be dangerous to with them. J / Tho Chairman thought it would b better if .ill tho pounds in/the county wer made over to the Council, they recoupin, , the Road Boards for the cost of their con struction. ■■ ; .■'■■' ; M .:;'.<*/ i A resolution to tin's effect was propose by Mr Williams, and seconded by M Bradley. Mr Coop proposed/ as an htaendmentThat tho existing arrangements, as t pounds be continued! and that the Akaro and Wainui Road Board- have pennissioi to erect a pound at some convenient plac at its own expense. The amendment was carried. Mr Gebbie proposed that if the Akaroi and Wainui Road Board could show tha they had no funds for the erection of i pound that the • Council advance thorn th< money on the understanding that if at air time any money is allocated to the Board; the amount so expended- be! a charge oi such Board. : . ■ ;<,< The resolution was seconded 'by M; Coop and carried by 7 to 2. LITTLE RIVER POUrtD. ,'. " ' ' DOG 'REGISTRARS/ A letter was read from tho Colonial Secretary's office, notifying the appointment of Messrs Forbes and Joblin as dog registrars for Little River,"

A letter was read from Mr Goorge Armstrong, stating that a license to occupy tlio land required for the above roa 1 w.Mild bo given as soon as tlio land was paid for and fenced, or 30j per chain paid for Iho fencing. Mr Coop moved that the sum of £110 be placed in (he hand.-? of the Council's solicitor for the purpose of the above road, and that Mr Armstrong; bo written to, askiug him to proceed with the erection of a legal fence. The resolution wae seconded by Mr Bradley, and carried. THE UNEMPLOYED.
