Information has been received that the American Government is mediating to prevent further hostilities between Chili and Peru. Papers relating to the negotiatious have been published in the " Gazette " of Mexico. ;> ' October. 14. Latest news from Persia states that .the Khurds have destroyed 170 villages, and are now returning into the mountains with their booty. St. Petersburg, Oct. 13. The Czar of Russia is indisposed. According to the physicians' report, the illness is not of serious nature. New York, Oct. 13. The State elections have commenced. The returns to hand so fur show that the Republicans carry the election in Indiana and Ohio ; in the former by -small, in the latter by large, majorities. Calcutta, October 13. Intelligence has been received from Cabul that Mahomed Jan, who for some time has been most hostile to the British, and who operated with Ayoub IvTian in the attack on Candahar, has now sent in his submission to Ameer Abdurrahman at Cabul.
