LITTLE RIVER SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
A meeting of the above Committee was held in the schoolroom on October 2nd. Present :—Messrs Coop (Chairman), Smith. Olphert. Greenland, Walters, and Jacobsen.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.
The Chairman stated that he had asked Mr Westropp for the book accounts, and again advertised for an assistant mistress. COIUUSSPONDENCE. Letters were read— From the Board of Education, dated Sept. 3, in reply to letter of the 16th nit, stating that the Government had obtained the necessary powers for exchanging sites with Mr Allan,-arid that the Board is now in a position to proceed with the tchool building, and that Mr Simpson, the architect, had been instructed accordingly.
From same, dated Aug. 30, stating that the sum of £41 5s Id had been paid into the credit of the Committee at the Bank of New South Wales, Chriatchurch, for salaries, etc.
From same, dated Sept. 21, as to reduction of master's salary to take place from November 1.
From same, dated Sept. 27, stating that the sum of £19 los 9d had been paid into the credit of the Committee at the Bank of New South Wales, Christchurch, for salaries, etc.
From Mr Westropp, as to the book account, ami asking , for invoices of goods purchased by the Committee. From same, enclosing £3 7s, and asking the Committee for a further supply of honks, etc. From same, asking for form of quaiterly returns, and enquiring as to an assistant mistress. From same, asking for a mouth's leave of absence, as Dr Uiithrie had recommended him to have his hand amputated. PAYMENTS. Tliß following accounts were passed for paymont :—John Archer (carting shingle) 18s, Mrs Munro (school cleaning) £2 ss, Akaroa Mail (advertising) 18s, Crerar and Whitcombe (books, etc) £3 2s Gd. RESOLUTIONS. The following resolutions were then passed, viz.:— " That Mrs Munro's account for £1 be referred to the Chairman of the Presbyterian Church." '• That Mrs Munro's account be paid at the rate of £13 per year for cleaning the school ; this to include all necessary extra cleaning ; any extra labor (caused by entertainments, etc.) will be considered by the Committee ; to be paid quarterly from date." " That Mr W. S. Greenland countersign cheques." "That Mr Westropp's application for leave of absence be granted, and that the Chairman write to the Board of Education on the subject ; and at the 6ame time inform the Board that no application had been received for the post of assistant mistress, and requesting the Board to appoint one." " That in future the Committee meetings be held on the first Saturday in each month." The meeting then adjourned.
