WOOL, SHEEPSKINS, HIDES AND TALLOW REPORT.
Messrs H. Matson ami Co. report.—On many farms, arrangements are being made to shear early this season, with every promise of a heavy clip, and this, combined with the prospect of good prices ruling, is tending to make flock-masters more cheerful than was the case la&t year. The first public sale of wool will be held about the second week in November, at which there should be ft good entry. The ordinary weekly salo of sheepskins, hides, &c, was held on Thursday, and our catalogue comprised 2287 sheepskins, 90 bags of fat and tallow, 80 hides and calfskins. Tho attendance of the various trades was good, and biddings brisk throughout the sale, values stendily advancing as the sale progressed. Best cross-bredsi made from 5s 9d to 7s each ; best merinos, from 6s to Gh 2d ; country skins realised capital values according to description. Ilidns, 3£d per lb ; calfskins, 4|d per Ib. Rough fat, 2d, 2£d, to 2f (I per lb ; tallow, in cake and cask, 2fd to 3d per lb.
