SUMMIT ROAD To the Editor.
Sir,—l think the motion of Mr Barker at the last mseting of the Council to obtain employment for 100 men of the unemployed on Summit road a very good one. The opening of the Summit road would he a great boon to the people in the hays. Should the Council grant the request of the Council, I think it would bo much better to begin the road at both ends—not at Le Bony new road : but at the Long Bay road. I am rather surprised at the apathy of the Lc Bons' settlers, as they have not called the attention of the Eoad Board or County Council to the necessity of opening- up the road from Long Bay to the junction of the new road. The new road from Le Bon's remains useless until this is done, and I would advise the Le Bons' settlers, now that the road is under the notice of the Council, to call a meeting of ratepayers, and take some stops in the matter. —I am, etc., PROGRESS.
