It is announced that Mr A. Jennings, who Avas Executive: .Commissioner for the Sydney Exhibition, Avill be appointed a Knight .Commander of St Michael and St George, and- that Mr John Da vies will be appointed a commander of the same order.
There is later news to hand from Solomon Islands,.-which;.confirms previous information regarding the wreck of the Arielj and the poisoning of the mate and s a seaman. It is reported that the captain and the reft of those who Avere 6n board have succeeded in making their escape from the Natives. " ■
Parliament has been- further prorogued till Oct. 26., It has transpired that Sir Henry Parkes acted in defiance of the Attorney-General's written opinion that Mr Proctor's lecture could not be lawfully interfered with,
The Government has given notice to , the Banks of its intention to withdraw' £200,000.
All the Protestant Churches in Sydney, have- expressed ' their -approval of Sir Henry Parkes' action in regard Mr Proctors proposed lectures.
