LITTLE RIVER RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

BREACH OF LICENSING ACT,
J. Olphert was charged with supplying a person of the Native race with spirituous liquors. Mr Olphert stated that he had served a European with drink, and that the latter had given it to the Maoris outside of his house.—Tho case was dismissed. A neighbors' quarrel. Hannah Harris and Bridget Prindevelle were charged with using threatening and abusive language towards each other. From the evidence it appeared that this was; a neighbor's quarrel, and matters had since been amicably settled.—The Bench diamissod the case, each party to pay half of the costs. CIVIL CASES. Gijliatt v. G. Ilaslen. Claim LO lis Gd. —Judgment by consent for the amount claimed and costs. J. Mandcrs, jun., v. C. Brown. Claim, LIG 18s. Mr Nahier appeared for the plain Lift*. defendant. Plaintiff admited the fact of the boy having worked for him, and having earned the amount of wages sued for, as well as more which had been paid to the boy's father. He stated, however, that the engagement had been made between himself and the boy's father, and not the boy ; that the boy's father had dealt with him, and on tho strength of the boy working for him had allowed credit to the father. Mandera, sen., filed his schedule, and was now trying to make defendant pay the boy, notwithstanding that he owed him more than the amount.
The Bench gave judgment for defendant with costs.
