A GREHAN VALLEY GRIEVANCE.

To the Editor.

Sir, —In reply to the letters which appeared in your laHt issue signed '• Quid Rides" and "A Member" I would like to make a few remarks. I will not treapn.ss to any extent on your space, butgo straight to tbe point. First—Truth, as he calls himself, wroto entirely on hia own account and without my cognizance, cotmeqnently when your correspondent dubs Truth my champion, or in any way connects Truth with myself, they do so unfairly. Secondly, the statement made by Quid Rides to tho effect that the road through tho Greban Valley is little better than a pig track through the damage done by my cattle trespassing on it is false, as my cattle have never been on tho road, and tho present bad state is caused by the large stones rolling into the creek, which is caused by the negligent way in which the last contractors performed thoir work. Before concluding I might state that I have done a large amount of work on the road at my own expense, and have never asked the Board to pay for it. With regard to the last clause of Quid Rides' letter, in which he suggests that Mr D. Curry, or Messrs Truth and Co., want a job, I might say thdt not only do I not require work, but on the other hand I should be most happy to employ a good steady man myself, and have no objection to his bringing a team of bullocks and dray with him should eneh be in his line; Apologising for intruding on your valuable space, —I am, etc., DAVID CURRY. s
