WOOL, SHEEPSKINS, HIDES AND TALLOW REPORT.
On Thursday, at the Canterbury Wool Stores, Messrs H. Matson and Co. held their usual weekly sale of the above. There was an average attendance of the trade, biddings, however, being slack, notwithstanding which, every line was disposed of at values fully equal to those of last week. Their catalogue) comprised 2340 sheepskins, 112 bags rough fat, 90 hides, several bales and bags wool, and packages and casks tallow, all of which were disposed of at tlie following quotations, viz. : —Butchers' best cross-bred skins mado 5n 3d to 5a 9d each ; 2nd qualtty, 4s to 4s lid ; medium, 3s to 3s lid Butchers' best merinos made 3s 10d to 4s 4d each; 2nd quality, 2s 9d to 3s 9d ; medium and inferior, Iβ 0d to 2s Gd. Butchers' best rough fat made l : }d to 2£d per lb ; second quality, 2d to 2 pi ; inferior, —none on offer. Hides, 3}d per lb; calfskins, 4d ; wool to 7-j-d per Ib ; pieces, to s^l; locks, to 3d ; tallow, in bags, to 2£d per lb ; in barrels and cases, 20s to 24s 0d per cwt.
Wheat—Good milling samples are saleable at from 3s 0d to 3s 7d ; second rate, 3s 2d to 3s 4d ; chick wheat, Is 9d to 2s 4d per bushel.
Oats—Good short milling samples, Is 4£d to Is ssd ; feed samples (good), Is 2d to Is 4d ; inferior quality, to la Id per bushel. Potatoes—There is no alteration to note-, ,in the value, 22h (xl to 25s pur ton being tbe prices at which bnsinoM is transacted, tacks extra ; for forward delivery in August or September, 35s per ton.
