LITTLE RIVER SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

Tlie usual monthly meeting of the Little River School Committee was held in tho schoolroom on Saturday evening last, tho 26th inst.

Present-—Messrs P. F. Ralfe (Chairman), A. D. Allan, J. Olphert, Jas. Smith, W. John-son, and N. Walters.

The minutes' of * the previous meeting were read and coufirmed.

The Chairman stated- that he bad written to the Board of Education informing thorn that Mr W. Johnson had offered to take charge of the Bchbbl until Mr Westropp was able to resume his .duties.

A letter from the 'BoArd 6f Education in reply w,»s read, accepting Mr Johnson's offer.

The Chairman reported -that the Board of Education had agreed to supply the necessary black boards, &c., applied for. An account from Messrs Crerar and Whitcombe, £3 15a Gd, for books, &c, was presented. < The "Chairman reported having paid 30s to Mrs Mqnro for school cleaning.—Approved. ■ ' ■ Mr Allan said, with respect to the delay in conveying the school sites, he would read a letter from his solicitor, which stated "that tbe delay bad arisen from the conveyance; in the first place having been made to the late Siiperintendent for public purposes only instead of a site for a school." A conveyance would have to be taken from the" Crown' and sent to Wellington for* the approval and signature of the Governor ; there was nothing, in the way of Mr Allan's conveying the Cathallan site at once. '
