The Orient Company's steamship Sorata arrived at Plymouth to-day from Australia. Consols have risen one-eighth, and are quoted at 98£ ex div. The Tiinaru waterworks loan of £00,000 at 7 per cent, is announced. New Zealand securities-, 5 per cent. 10-40 loan, 104 ; 5 per cent. 1889 loan, 103 ; 5£ per cent. 1879-1904 loan, 98 ; New Zealand wheat, ex ship, 49s ; Adelaide wheat, ex warehouse, 50s; flour, ex warehouse, 38s ; Australian tallow—best beef, 32s 6d ; best mutton, 34s 6d.

London, June 14.
The Australians cricketers commenced their match to-day at Belfast, against eighteen of the North of Ireland. The weather was fine. The Home team went in first, and scored 100. Spofforth and Palmer both bowled splendidly, the former taking ten and the latter six wickets. The Australians went in and were all disposed of for 102, when the stumps were drawn. June 16. The match between the Australians and Eighteen of the North of Ireland at Belfast, was continued to-day, The home team, in their second innings were disposed of for 130 runs. The Australians then went in, and have lost no wickets for 74 ; Bannerman, not out, 31; Murdoch, not out, 43.It is said that Turkey considers the decisions of the European Conference as not binding, because it was excluded. Melbourne, June 17.
The Payment of Members Bill was again under discussion in the Legislative Assembly last night. An amendment proposed by Mr Murray Smith to exclude payment to members of the Legislative Council was defeated on a division by 48 to 28. No progress was made with the measure, and Mr Williams, the member in charge of it, threatened to abandon it unless the House dealt rapidly with it. Angry scenes occurred in the Chamber last night in consequence of impediments being placed in the way of the Bill passing.
Sir Cunliffe Owen has resigned his position as one of the Commissioners for Great Britain to the Melbourne Exhibition. Herbert Sandford succeeds him. Money Wigram and Co. have decided to withdraw from the Australian trade, and are going to sell their vessels. Sailed —Kotomahana, for the Bluff.
