The Chairman having read the Tioticer •convening the meeting, said lie understood •that the Recreation Ground Committee had entered info'arrangements with Mr Win. Wileon ior the purchase■• of , eight acres of land adjoining 'the oeineteryy<at £7 per acre. He thought before entering into any such arrangement forth©purchase of the land, the Recreation Committee ought to have called a public meeting jbo< .aeto get an opinion as to whether the site < •was a suitable one or not; this , had not •been done. Ne doubt the land was cheap, , .•and as an investment good, but the ? site -was altogether unsuitable for recreation purposes. The ground had not yet been •surveyed. hml seen Mr H.ay» who stated that with the data he had at present to go upon, he couW ; not Biiry.ey it. It, was not too late for the .meeting to -paes an opinion as to «Mgibility of the site or not. The public had flb real know, ledge of what the Recreation Couiimttee ; had done. It wfis r.-Kolvcd—" That a copy of the. foregoing resolution he pent to the Chairluan of tins Recreation Ground Committee nni also to the Chairman of the Akaroa County Conncil.' , The riiMttor of tin , cemetery was next gone into. The Chairman «tnt« d that the contract for fencing in the cemetery had been let some time-ago, but as yet nothing, had been done, he supposed because the re .creation ground had not. been surveyed. As he. had said before, Mr Hay could not at present, do this, but he had no doubt if the cemetery trustees were to see Mr Hay. and ask him to survey the cemetery ground he would do so ; but hs thought, before even this could be done it would be necessary to survey the acre of .land belonging to the Church. When this was done the cemetery ground could be easily sur- [ veyed. ■ ■•.••'". •.■ ■. i.-. . .•■.■.. After a little diecussion, it was mpved •py Mr P. F.. Ralfe, seconded by Mr.N.
