INFORMATION REQUIRED.
To ihe Editor of the Akaroa Mail.
Sm,—Can you inform mo whether the Tacancies as advertised in your paper for Mayor and a Councillor in the place of Cr Chadwick are yet filled up ? I suppose they cannot be, as the fact would have been advertised according to the Act. Still, it certainly seems veiy funny that the matter should be allowed to drop and the Borough remain without a Mayor and with only half a Council. Do you know who was nominated yesterday in the place of Cr O'Reilly ? If there really is a dearth of candidates I do not mind standing for Councillor if my Pa would stand for Mayor. You might let me know at once. Yours, &c, SETTLLER. Wainui, June 3, 18S0, [No official announcement having been made, we are unable to inform our correspondent who is Mayor or who was returned as Councillor. We have heard certain unities mentioned, but tts it is only rumor, we preier ik.: tc co.'nniit ourselves by repeating it.—Ed. A. M].
