MUTUAL IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION.

To the Editor of the Akaroa Mail.

Dear Sir,— My previous letter re the Mutual Improvement has been void of the desired effect, the association not having come to life again. This time, however, it is finance I am going to talk. What has become of the balance left in the hands of the first treasurer ? If I recollet rightly, it was something like six pounds. I know for certain that the present treasurer has paid three pounds odd out of his own pocket on behalf of the, A. M. LA. fund, which certainly ought to be refunded immediately. I would suggest that a meeting be called by the President to wind up the concern (if it is to be wound ap), and to request Treasurer No. I to " ante up and pass the buck." Then members would have the satisfaction of knowing how things stand, and what has been done with the remaining money. Let us hear from yourself on the subject. " A leader, a local, a par if ye can, Or a bogus of low degree." Yours as per usual, R. STRAW. I Akaroa, 20th May, 1880. '
