WOOL, SHEEPSKINS, HIDES AND TALLOW REPORT.

Messrs H. Matson and Co. report as follows :—On Thursday, at our Canterbury Wool Stores, we held our usual weekly sale of the above. There was an average attendance of the trade, and prices have partly recovered, the decline quoted last week. Our catalogue was unusually large, and every line was quitted at even values, and contained G394 sheepskins, 162 bags rough fat, 204 hides, several casks and packages tallow, and a few odd lots of wool, locks and pieces, the whole being disposed of at values as under, viz.—Butchers' best cross-bred skins realised 4s 3d, 4s 6d to 4s 9d ; second quality, 3s 3d, 3s 6d, 3s 9d, 4s to 4s 2d ; medium, 2s, 2s 4d, 2s 8d to 3s Id each. Butchers' best merino, 3s, 3s 3d, 3s Gd, 3s 8d ; second quality, 2s, 2s 3d, 2s Gd, 2s 9d to 2s lid each. Country skins, best, 3s 9d, 4s, 4s 6d, ss, 5s Gd to 6s each ; inferior, 4d, 9d, Is 3d, 2s Gd, to 3s Gd. Lambskins, best, 3s 3d to 3s 8d each. Butchers' best dry, rough fat, 2-jd to 2|d per lb ; second quality, If d, 2d to per lb ; inferior and heated, to lfjd per lb. Hides over GOlb, 3£d ; under GOlb, 3.jd per lb. Calfskins, 3d." Tallow, 24s to 25s Gd per cwt. Wool, 5d to 7Ad per lb ; pieces, to 4£d per lb; locks, l£d to 2£d per lb. On Tuesday we held a clearing sale at the farm of Mr John Hoskyns, of West Melton, of farm implements, sundries and two horses. There was a small attendance of buyers, notwithstanding which, every line with the exception of the horses, were sold at extreme rates.
