OUTSIDER AND MR HENNING.

To the Editor of the Alcaroa Mail.

Sir.—" Outsider," in replying, has tailed to give bin name. In writing upon Borough affairs, I wrote solely in the public interest, with a view to improving them ; and, as-a guarantee for the truth of the facts brought forward, I signed my nwno. '• Outsider," on the contrary, did not sign his uiiiue, bnt thought fit to'make a wanton and cowatilly attack under cover of a num. dc plum c.

Unless he should ste fit to give hi.s name —which he will yet do if he have a spark «f manliness in him—l must decline, to hold any further correspondence with him. I am, yours &c, \V. 11. HENNING. May 13th. l> &—A parting word of caution to " Outsider." His " hibricatory propensities " will yet be getting him into trouble. Many a good man has found himself in gaol for less than publishing to the world that his opponent "has assumed the heavy role of Iniqiv'mlic authority." Being a man of peace, with an instinctive dread of the Supreme Court, I have not looked into the dictionary for the word, feeling sure that its meaning must be something co terrible that nothing could atone short of dragging " Outsider " into a Court_ of Justice. The previous charges of telling "fibs" and being actuated by "purely sordid motives," sink into nothingness when compared with this last. I trust a merciful public will acquit me of having committed the dreadful crimes laid to my charge. w - H - H -
