CRICKET.

(from our little akaloa correspondent.)

On Friday last a cricket match was played between the members of the Little Akaloa and those of the Barry's Bay Cricket Clubs on the ground of the former. Owing to the recent heavy rains, the ground was in anything but good condition. The game, which was very uneven, resulted in a victory for the Little Akaloa team in one innings and with 42 runs to spare, to which H. M'lntosh, jiin. contributed the' goodly item of 35, and his bowling proved very .destructive to the Barry's Bay wickets. Messrs C. Bloom and G. Mason divided the honors in bowling with him pretty evenly. The play of this team was above its usual average, and two very smart pieces of fielding were done by Messrs Win. Ashton and A. Mason. For the Barry's. Bay team, the brothers C. and G. Bates bovrled. but were unable to do much against the opposing batsmen, and Mr D. Lecomte kept the wickets in a very ahle manner. Mr Hussey was most unfortunate in being bowled off his pads early in the game, while C. Bates contented himself with a couple of good hits in each innings. The following are the scores.
