PIGEON BAY ROAD BOARD.
The monthly meeting of this Board was hold in the Board's office, on Saturday, the Ist instant. Present: Messrs Hay (Chairman), Budua, Pettigrew, and Pitcaithly. MINUTES. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE. Letters were read from— Mr Menzies, of Macintosh Bay, approving of Messrs Coatsworth and" Holloway : s contract, and enclosing order from them in his favor. From the County Clerk, requesting to be furnished with the amount of the Valuation Roll, and of the ratee for the year ending 31st March, 1880. From the same enclosing list of additional names for the County Electoral Soil, which list is now open for inspection at the Board's office. From Mr Woodill, in reference to the engineer's unfavorable report on his two eea-wall contracts, proposing to submit the differenc on the first to arbitration and demanding full payment for the second, as the Chairman had, merely to oblige him, advanced him some money on his contract without & certificate, but with the concurrence of other members of the Board. Mr Budua proposed and Mr Pithcaithly seconded—"That the Board adhere to the engineer's report." The Cierk was instructed to intimate this resolution to Mr Woodill. From the Secretary to the Colonial Treasury, requesting such information as subsidies have been baaed on. From Mr J. Holmes, Solicitor, Christchurch, on behalf of Mr T. Fitzpatrick, requesting the Board to accept as his partners and co-contractors, Messre Win. Hodnick and Michael Fahey. The Board agreed to accept them accordingly, and procure their signatures to the contract. From the Public Works office, Wellington, requesting to be furnished with a tabulated statement of the Board's expenditure for the past year. From Mr A. Kuudsen, asking liberty to enclose a watering place for his cattle. The request was granted on the understanding that it did not interfere with or obstruct the traffic, and that the Board might, if it saw cause, withdraw the grant. The Clerk was directed to intimate this to Mr Knudsen. MISCELLANEOUS. The chairman reported that ho had settled with Messrs Coataworth and Holloway for their contract, and that he had made progress pay men t3 to Mr Fitzpatrick and Mr McHalo on their contracts. Accounts to the amount of £22 9e 6d were passed for p&yment. The Board decided not to proceed further at present with the construction of the road contracted for by Mr Ashwin, and also to sow grass seed along new roads as soon as finished. It was agreed to pay tte expenses incurred by repairs ordered {by one of the inombers on Say's gully rcjad. The Clerk was instructed to write to the Akaroa and Wainui Road Board for inforuftltion regarding" the progress of HainoH , Road, and also to the County' Council re the construction of the Armstrong or Balguerie road in process of formation. The Board then adjourned.
