RAILWAY COMMISSION.
A meeting of the Railway Commission was held at bruce's Hotel on Tuesday evening last, the 27th instant, when they received the report from the Deputation. Present : (Commissioners) Messrs 0. Curtis, Nelson (in the chair); J. M. Clark, Auckland ; Col. Pearce, Wellington ; J. Reid, Oamaru ; E. O. Wright, Canterbury ; accompanied by W. Mitchell, Esq., of Hansard staff. Deputation: Messrs J. D. Garwood (chairman), W. Montgomery, M.H.R., His Worship the Mayor (C. J. Waeckerle), J. Dalglish (Chairman of County Council), Smith, Piper, Shadbolt, Joblin, Coop, Saxton, Birdling, Tosswill, J. B. Barker. At the commencement of the meeting, the Chairman of the Commissioners desired that no report should be published of the proceedings in the Press, as the Oovernment did not wish the proceedings of the various meetings to appear piece-meal, but all at the same time. They would be published in the Blue Book. Our reporter consequently retired.
